(ThePatriotSource.com)- If you want to enjoy college sports this year, then it might be worth taking the advice of U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams. TMZ Sports reported how Adams hopes that wearing a mask in public becomes more common and, as a result, college sports become possible even during this COVID outbreak.
The truth behind the wearing of masks is that they won’t stop you from contracting the virus, but they can help prevent the spread. Wearing a barrier over your mouth and nose reduces the number of aerosolized droplets you put into the air when talking and breathing. The reduced droplets means reduced spread of the virus, if you happen to be suffering from the virus asymptomatically.
The more people wear masks, therefore, the less the virus spreads – an ideal situation for people who want to gather and play/watch college sports this year.
“Please, please, please wear a face-covering when you go out in public,” Adams said. “It is not an inconvenience. It is not a suppression of your freedom. It actually is a vehicle to achieve our goals.”
Adams was addressing the common claim that wearing a mask is an infringement of American liberties, which when mandated, it is. But, where it is not mandated, Adams hoped that people would consider wearing a mask so that state economies can be reopened more quickly and people can go back to enjoying fun activities like college sports.
“If you want to see North Carolina beat Duke in person this year, war a face covering,” the Surgeon General added.
The New Orleans Saints shared the same message on June 29, telling people to “mask up” in a Twitter post.

Back in May, the National Football League worked with engineers, researchers, and Oakley (the sports equipment brand) to create masks that players could wear comfortably while playing, helping set an example for viewers and also protecting players who are out on the field.
Is it time to start accepting masks as a necessary inconvenience? Hey, if it means we can enjoy sports again…!
