(ThePatriotSource.com)- If officials in Portland doesn’t soon take control of the city on their own, President Donald Trump said he’ll be forced to have the federal government handle the situation for them.
Following more violence in the city on Saturday night that resulted in the death of one man, Portland Democratic Mayor May Ted Wheeler said the violence was the president’s fault. He asked Trump:
“Do you seriously wonder, Mr. President, why this is the first time in decades that America has seen this level of violence? It’s you who have created the hate and the division.”
That led to Trump responding via Twitter on Monday, when he wrote:
“Portland is a mess, and it has been for many years. If this joke of a mayor doesn’t clean it up, we will go in and do it for them!”
The weekend violence happened between truckloads of Trump supporters and demonstrators on behalf of Black Lives Matter. The victim of Saturday night’s violence was Aaron Danielson, who is reportedly a supporter of Patriot Prayer, a conservative group.
While a lot of the focus of the violence has been on pro-Trump supporters busing into cities to cause problems with BLM protesters, it was the other way around this weekend apparently. The man who is under investigation for Saturday’s shooting in Portland had previously pledged his allegiance to the anti-fascist group Antifa.
In a June post on social media, the potential suspect, 48-year-old Michael Forest Reinoehl, wrote:
“Every Revolution needs people that are willing and ready to fight. There are so many of us protesters that are just protesting without a clue of where that will lead. That’s just the beginning that’s that where the fight starts. If that’s as far as you can take it thank you for your participation but please stand aside and support the ones that are willing to fight.
“I am 100% ANTIFA all the way! I am willing to fight for my brothers and sisters! … We do not want violence but we will not run from it either! … Today’s protesters and Antifa are my brothers in arms.”
Reinoehl was arrested on July 5 for attending a protest with a loaded gun in a public place. He was also charged with interfering with police and resisting arrest, but all those charges were later dropped on July 30. He hasn’t been charged in Saturday’s shooting in Portland as of yet.
Democrats continue to lambast President Trump during these affairs. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers asked the president not to visit the city of Kenosha, which has been the site of recent violence after a police shooting of a Black man in the back. That led to a statement being released by Republican Senator Ron Johnson that said:
“It is a sad state of affairs when Governor Evers asks the president of the United States to stay out of Wisconsin. Throughout this rolling tragedy, I’ve pleaded for calm but also for political leadership that provides the resolve and manpower to end the rioting and allow the safe reopening of downtown Kenosha.”
