(ThePatriotSource.com)- Al Sharpton, a black rights campaigner who was friends with Donald Trump until he became a Republican presidential candidate, has hit out against the “Defund the Police” message advocated by Black Lives Matter and Antifa. Sharpton slammed the idea as a “fantasy” dreamed up by the “latte liberal” class.
Sharpton is by no means a friend of conservatives, and his message has become increasingly radical over the decades. Once known for his campaigns for racial equality, Sharpton has a long history of anti-white racism, antisemitism, and even demonizing police officers. So the fact he doesn’t support defunding the police should speak volumes to the Democrats and the left.
But of course, it doesn’t.
During an interview on MSNBC in which he discussed the rise in gun violence in New York City following Mayor Bill de Blasio’s decision to defund the NYPD to the tune of $1 billion.
“We’ve always hard about the tale of two cities,” he said to Joe Scarborough on Tuesday. “On the side of the city that I come from, which is Blacker and poorer, we’ve seen more in terms of gun usage. I got a lot of attention when I did the eulogy for George Floyd’s funeral, but I also, a month later, preached a one-year-old kid’s funeral in Brooklyn who was killed by a stray bullet,” he said.
He went on to describe how six people were shot in Brooklyn over the Labor Day weekend during the festivities and said that on the ground it feels more violent and more unsafe in many communities.
He argued that America needs to “re-imagine” how policing is done, without giving any details about how he thinks we should do that, before slamming the defunding approach.
“To take all policing off is something a latte liberal may go for as they sit around the Hamptons discussing this as an academic problem,” he said. “But people living on the ground need proper policing.”
Which is, obviously, true. What would happen to the black communities plagued with violence if the police weren’t able to help bring criminals to justice?

The Wall Street Journal reported recently that Sharpton has been actively questioning who is responsible for the “Defund the Police” movement and wants to know whether those advocates are even in touch with the minority communities they advocate for.
