(ThePatriotSource.com)- Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and perhaps the most visible member of President Donald Trump’s COVID-19 taskforce claimed that America’s “independent spirit” harmed the nation during the pandemic.
Fauci has long argued that Americans should do more to tackle the virus, and has been at the forefront of the push to close down businesses and keep people at home as much as possible.
During an interview with the far-left Washington Post that was published on Wednesday, Fauci made insensitive and insulting comments about Americans, suggesting that the general refusal to force businesses to close and damage the national economy was a bad thing.
Fauci was asked whether the American approach to the virus, from the executive branch of government and the avoiding of national mandates to a sense of individualism, had resulted in a different outcome to other countries.
The public health official said that the “independent spirit of the United States of people not wanting to comply with public health measures has certainly hurt us a bit.”
This is exactly why people don’t like this guy very much…
“There are people in various parts of the country who still believe that [COVID-19] is a hoax, that it’s fake…even when in their own state the hospitals have been overrun with patients in the hospital beds and in the intensive care unit,” Fauci claimed.
Without providing any evidence to support his claims, Fauci made the shocking suggestion that Americans don’t believe the virus is real, perhaps misunderstanding the concern people have about lockdown measures. Many Americans also believe that the response to the virus has been exaggerated, with the survival rate for those infected by COVID-19 rising dramatically since the early days of the outbreak.
Fauci may have also been fooled by media reports that suggested the president called the virus a “hoax” – a fake news report that continues to be circulated to this day. President Donald Trump, in reality, called the Democrat response to the virus a hoax.
“That’s very unusual to see a situation like that but that is what is going on in this country,” Fauci reiterated, again without providing any evidence that his claim is true.
It’s not the first time that Fauci has hit out at America’s independent spirit, either. Back in November, he said during a speech at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. that both the United Kingdom and the United States have had similar compliance issues.
“I was talking with my UK colleagues who are saying the UK is similar to where we are now, because each of our countries have that independent spirit,” he complained. “I can understand that, but now is the time to do what you’re told.”
If Fauci wants people to ignore him…then telling people to “do what [they’re] told” is probably the best way to achieve that.
