(ThePatriotSource.Com)- Democratic state Rep. Vernon Jones of Georgia announced that he will be leaving office this month. Vernon cited attacks and ongoing harassment from members and officials from his party after he endorsed President Donald Trump over the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Jones surprised Democrats in Georgia earlier in April when he admitted publicly that he would rather President Donald Trump be re-elected than allow Joe Biden into the White House. He was immediately disavowed by Democrats and applauded by Republicans.
Sadly, it resulted in a harassment campaign that made him feel like he cannot continue his work. Some Democrats even pledged to do everything they could to get him out of office.
“I’m sick and tired of me and my family being attacked and harassed by the Democrat Party for putting my country before my party,” Jones admitted in a Wednesday press release.
“I take pride in being an independent thinker,” he continued. “I intend to help the Democrat Party get rid of its bigotry against Black people that are independent and conservative.”
Imagine that! A Democrat speaking up against the inherent racism of the Democrats!
The chairwoman of the Georgia Democratic Party was particularly vile in her response to his decision to endorse Trump.
“Vernon Jones is an embarrassment to the Democratic Party and does not stand for our values,” Nikema Williams said. “He chose to stand with the racist president who has made an all-out assault on black Americans…during the most important election of our lifetime.”
Williams didn’t explain exactly how the president led an “all-out assault on black Americans,” but facts don’t seem to matter to Democrats these days.
Jones endorsed the president on just a handful of weeks ago, releasing a video on Twitter stating that he remains both a state representative and a lifelong Democrat.
I’m a Georgia State Representative and lifelong Democrat. But in this election, I’ll be casting my vote for @realdonaldtrump.

“But in this election, I’ll be casting my vote for @realDonald Trump,” he said. “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. The party left me.”
Jones also used the hashtag #WalkAway in his endorsement tweet, which represents a growing movement of Democrats who are walking away from their party as a result of significant policy shifts. As the Democrats get more radically left-wing, more of its supporters are deciding to leave. Including state representatives like Jones!
Jones said that while he is stepping down from his office, he won’t be leaving the Democratic Party and that he hopes to hold them accountable.
