( – New York City Mayor proved there’s one rule for him and another for everyone else on Monday when he visited his local YMCA gym immediately before he took steps to close down all gyms across the state.

The move comes as state governments look for ways to encourage social distancing for American citizens to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Mayor De Blasio’s office announced his intention to visit the gym “one last time” before shutting it down, explaining how much the location meant to him.

Well, De Blasio, if the gyms are one of the worst places to be during the coronavirus outbreak, why would you go out of your way to attend one?

In an official statement, De Blasio’s office explained:

“The YMCA has been a huge part of his and his family’s life, like it has been for a lot of New Yorkers. It’s clear that’s about to change and before that, the mayor wanted to visit a place that keeps him grounded one last time.”
