Biden Will Attend George Floyd’s Funeral, In Welcome Boost to Flagging Campaign

( Presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has been struggling greatly to win over the same level of black support as Hillary Clinton did in 2016 and Barack Obama in 2012. It should come as no surprise, then, that Biden has attempted to pander to the black community by turning up to protests in Delaware and making the inaccurate assumption that all black people support the protests taking place.

While the whole country, black and white, Republican and Democrat, mourns the death of George Floyd, Biden continues to stoke the fires of tension and division by enabling violent protesters. Reports now also suggest that Biden will be attending the funeral of George Floyd in what he will likely consider a boost to his flagging (and disastrous) campaign.

Benjamin Crump, an attorney representing Floyd’s family, announced on Tuesday during an interview that former Vice President Joe Biden will attend a memorial service being held for Floyd. Several services are taking place owing to the large numbers of people who wish to attend. Crump also said that Biden will travel to Houston, Texas, to attend in person.

It would be the first time that Biden has left the state in months, and one of the few times he’s left his basement during his campaign over the last few months.

Few other details were released. It remains unclear whether Biden will speak at the event, and his staffers are yet to confirm his attendance. A speech from Biden would be a huge boost to his campaign and help him win over some of the black voters he lost when he told people you can’t be a black Trump supporter during an interview with Charlamagne tha God.

If you’ve somehow missed what happened with George Floyd, he is the 46-year-old African American who was arrested last week for allegedly using a fake $20 note in a store. During his arrest, former police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for eight minutes and ignored him when he said he couldn’t breathe. Floyd died.

His tragic death left Americans of all ideological persuasions shocked, and while early protests were in immediate response to the injustice, Antifa and Black Lives Matter have since taken this as an opportunity to riot. Major American cities have succumbed to violence and chaos over the last week.
