Airplane Makes Emergency Landing After Fears Of Explosive Device

(ThePatriotSource.com)- On Wednesday, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) of Louisiana described how the Sheriffs Dispatch received a call reporting an inbound aircraft emergency.

The flight, which was heading to Houston, was forced to perform an emergency landing in Louisiana over concerns of a possible explosive device onboard the aircraft. The landing, which occurred at Alexandria International Airport, was successful and nobody was injured.

Two young people, however, were detained during the incident.

“According to initial reports, information was received there was a possible explosive device onboard an inbound aircraft to Alexandria International Airport,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

“Deputies, along with England Airpark Fire Department, responded to the scene where the passengers were off-loaded and the scene secured,” the statement continued. “Two persons of interest are being detained at this time.”

The FBI, local agents, and the RPSO Bomb Squad were deployed to the scene and are assisting with the investigation.

News Channel 5 spokes to one passenger who explained what happened.

“We were mid-air and they made the announcement that we would be making an unexpected stop in Alexandria. Never indicated why. We got to the airport here, got off the runway on these spurs on the tarmac. Shortly after we got here, they powered the engine down, turned all the electricity off, including the air circulation. We’ve been sitting in stagnant air for probably a good 40 or 45 minutes,” the passenger said.

Ultimately, the two people who were arrested were released with no state or federal charges. The bomb threat was reportedly false.

No details have since been provided to explain how a false bomb threat could force a plane to be grounded abruptly, and given how crazy the last year has been, we might never find out…

What a way for these passengers to see out 2020!
